The first song I ever released!

V1
Work day, work night
Just tryna carry on
Keep quiet, don't fight
Gotta keep up the con
Deep breath, hold on
You're gonna be alright
Coz you know, what's going on
V2
Hi there, bright eyes
Why don't you stay a while
You seek, I'll hide
I'm gonna run a mile
Deep breath, hold on
Why don't you look inside
Then you'll know, what's going on
C
Run and hide
My heart breaks a little when I look in your eyes
But my brains working hard to block out the cries
You run and hide stay away from me
V4
Pretty, danger
My heart is on the line
Constant changer
Just want some peace of mind
Deep breath, hold on
Gotta keep up the fight
Coz no one, is gonna survive
V3
Sun up, sun down
Every day is the same
Stay bright, go hide
It's only me I'll maim
Deep breath, hold on
Gotta keep up the fight
Coz no one, is gonna survive
C
Run and hide
My heart breaks a little when I look in your eyes
Cause my brains working hard to block out the lies
You run and hide stay away from me
B
I swing a double edged sword
It cuts both ways
At the edge we stood
Held each others gaze
Promise I'll scream to you
Before I run away
V5
Shaking, breaking
Falling apart again
Can't breathe, can't speak
Keep falling off the track
Deep breath, hold on
Tryna be in one piece
Tryna make the pain cease
V6
Shut up, closed mouth
Tryna bite back the tears
Feel doubt, went south
My mind is full of fears
Deep breath, hold on
I wanna feel release
I don't know what's going on
C
Run and hide
My heart breaks a little when I look in your eyes
Cause my brains working hard to block out the cries
You run and hide stay away from me
Stay away from me
Run and hide
My heart breaks a little when I look in your eyes
Cause my brains working hard to block out the lies
You run and hide stay away from me

How I wrote ‘Run + Hide’
And how the process changed how I make music:
Run+Hide is a song that I wrote in my first year of college. My music tech teachers were rubbish and so I managed to procure a tutor, Will Jackson. The goal was to help me learn how to produce music, more specifically vocals. As the rock genre was one of my favourites, that was the genre we chose; we started with a guitar loop, and built from there!
This process of learning and collaboration really formed the way in which I have continued to write and produce music ever since. We would work together on a section of the song, Will would send me the mp3 and then a week later I would come back with lyrics to move forwards with. Whilst it was a learning experience, I was always given final say on stylistic choices, although as we got to know each other, we found we often agreed.
The lyrics describe the internal battle that comes with mental illness. The push and pull between feeling constant exhaustion and silent suffering, and the desire for others to see you as you are and bring you comfort. The verses illustrate the interior life, the emotional turmoil and fatigue of maintaining the pretence of being fine when you feel anything but. The chorus suggests the singer does not want their own struggles to impact those around them, telling the listener to “Run and hide”, the last line indicating the singer believes their loved ones will do just that if they fully understand.
Ironically, no one in my life questioned me on the lyrics, despite the fact that they were written during a period when my mental health issues were a secret to all but my most trusted friends.
So far, this is the only song to use my face on the cover art (I just really liked the photo), my other songs so far have all been art that I created myself. Don’t know yet what my next songs will look like, so maybe in the future I will have my face more associated with my music, but for now I am happy to stick with the artwork!
As I was writing this song I kept on being reminded of Buffy, what does the song make you think of?
If you live in North London and need a producer, Will Jackson has my highest compliments:
